Railroad building in Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Russia, Japan, and especially in the United States fueled a tremendous expansion in the world’s rail networks from 1850 to 1900. 2. In the non-industrialized world, railroads were also built wherever they would be of value to business or to government. 3. Railroads consumed huge amounts of land and timber for ties and bridges.
In this era the United States was under going some major changes that were developing the country into how we know it today. Industrialization essentially made work easier for those in factories. Due to the use of assembly lines in factories across the country, not only were the factories producing more of their products but they were also being produced faster. In this time frame, factories were located in the heart of the cities with access to everything else like stores and markets around them. The demand for workers increased heavily in these new factories, which was a reason why individuals were moving into the cities to work in the factories vis à vis in the fields farming.

The century of the 1800s saw massive amounts of change, especially in places like Great Britain. Many citizens in rural areas found themselves migrating more towards living in the cities. Thanks to new agricultural technology, the industrial revolution and changing social environments people during the 1800s started to move to cities in large numbers. Farming has been a well known trade for centuries but during the 1800s farmers started to become more creative and new technology was mad to enhance farming techniques. With technology like the steel plow and the use of crop rotation, farmers were able to produce more food using half the amount of resources.
In the beginning of early civilization many of the world’s people lived in small village settlements. (44) During this time Neolithic settlements used advance techniques like irrigation, the ox-drawn plow, and the domestication of plants to increase agricultural production, and provided the means to support thousands of people. This time period then turned into the Urban Revolution. During this time frame the invention of new tools, such as plows, sickles, and hoes made farming easier. This was a great achievement not previously seen in other periods of time.
It opened up many opportunities for them for higher paying jobs. People see that living secluded is being independent from the world. As more people in the region get educated, it will open up the doors to many things. They can learn how the outside world is; introduce new technology, move away from their old traditions, and maybe even move away from the small town to a big
Essay: Explain how urban issues have being resolved There are many urban issues apparent in MEDC’s like UK due to things such as increased population and immigrations, these issues are being tackled in many different ways. The population in the UK has risen by 7% since 1971 and this large growth rate is predicted to continue to 52.5 million by 2021 and this rise in population has begun to put a strain on things such as housing in the UK. This housing strain is also brought about by the single-person household that account for 70% of housing demand, due to people leaving home to rent or buy at a younger age, people marrying later, more people getting divorced and people living longer, a mix of these means there are more people for less houses thus demand is much greater than supply creating a huge issue when this demand is not met. This means more people are left homeless, this shortage of housing also means house prices will rise making it hard for potential buyers to afford a housing in the first place; but the government is combating this, they are planning to build 240,000 new houses every year by 2016 so that house prices do not spiral out of control as a result of these shortages. Though this is a great initiative, the mass construction of these building needs a lot of space and that why 60% of these building will be built of Brownfield Sites, areas which have been previously built on before, which limits the amount of free space consumptions being used to build these 240,000 buildings.
