Everybody has their preference when it comes to wanting a cat or a dog. Some people can’t choose between the two, they just accept them both willingly. However there is something you should know, Dogs are way better than cats! They can do so much more. They interact with you better than cats, they are more loving, and they even play with you, cuddle with you, give you lots of kisses, and protect you better than cats. I’m not trying to say cats are horrible, but they are kind of creepy. “Cats are less likely to be adopted than dogs are.” (Dale, 2012). Since 1987 cats are the most popular pet in America. Still, cats count as being second rate in so many ways. (AVMA Pet Demographic Sourcebook, 2009). According to the AVMA having cats as pets have declined by nine percent since 2006. The number of homes with at least one cat as also declined by 6.2% since 2006. In shelters cats are less likely to be adopted before a dog is. “Bottom line, many shelters are euthanize as many cats as they did a decade or two ago.” (Dale, 2012). However, fostering a cat is more complex. Cat breeders are suffering because of this, if no one has interest in pedigreed cats; their industry and the demand for them is declining. On the other hand, Dogs “A man’s best friend” are so high in demand that shelters; they have to sometimes import canines from other shelters in other countries and states. (Dale, 2012). We’ve all heard the story of how the dog dragged grandma out the burning building, and we all deem these stories to be true. People are more attached to dogs, they can teach their dogs how to do new tricks, shake your hand, play dead, train them to lead the blind, and so much more. Dogs are so fluffy and adorable. There are so many breeds to choose from. Who wouldn’t want to love all over a big fluffy dog? I know I would. Cats and Dogs Dogs can do so much, they work for police
