Case Title: Macon, Inc. Synopsis: Macon, Inc. is fifty year old company that develops test equipment for tire industry. The two major departments, Mechanical engineering and Electrical engineering report to VP that has mechanical background. What put Macon, Inc. on the top of their completion is electrical control system. Key topics covered that were important to me:  Internal completion very noticeable- line managers compete one with others.  No one is taking responsibility for the project delays. Answers to case questions: (answer all questions for the case, brief but descriptive, do not include the questions) 1) Resistance will come from: broken relationship between line managers, poor communication, luck of commitment, and internal culture. 2) Someone has to take responsibility – Need to have a system that clearly defines who reports to whom and what is included in the responsibilities for the particular position. Have a complete project management plan. Stay on the schedule – do not allow any more delays. Implement Change Management- changes in any area will need to be approved so there is no negative impact on other areas. Hire additional person that has mechanical background to communicate with VP and start focusing on the core competency of the business electrical control system. Rebuild relationship by having regular meetings, company barbeque, social events like golf or fishing derby. 3) It will take long time to achieve some degree of excellence. If we think of life cycle of the project and allow about three months for each phase than we are looking into one year. It all depends of the urgency, if the company is doing well than they might decide to take longer time.
