Oprah Winfrey had humble beginnings. But that couldn’t stop her from reaching beyond her boundaries. At the age of 19, while still in high school, Oprah got her first job as a reporter for radio station WVOL. Since then she has come a long way to become one of the most influential entrepreneurs of the modern age. Since her first job, she gradually started to move up the career ladder. While at Tennessee University, she became the first African-American anchor at a Nashville TV station. Then she moved to Baltimore to co-anchor the 6 o’clock news. She was also recruited for a morning talk show. Her show was so popular that the TV channel renamed the talk show as “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. In 1986, in collaboration with Jeff Jacobs, Oprah’s first company, ‘Harpo’ was born. The venture was a success from the beginning as its operation was complemented by Oprah’s creativity & Jeff’s Experience in the entertainment business field. As Harpo’s operations expanded, Oprah hired people to turn the entrepreneurial venture into a true corporation. Oprah continued to expand the business by forming alliances with different companies for airing her show. But the story doesn’t end here. She continued to expand her reach within the world of entertainment. In 2000, ‘O, The Oprah magazine’ was launched. She also expanded her business to Video entertainment & TV movies. Through continuous innovation, today she is the owner of Harpo Inc., Harpo Productions, Harpo Studios, Harpo Films, Harpo video & Harpo Print LLC. Oprah is one of the most prominent philanthropists of our time. She donates at least 10% of her annual income to charity focused on Women, Children, & Education. The ‘Oprah Winfrey Foundation’ provides grants to worthy candidates for educational purposes. She also worked to establish The National Child Protection Act. She also created the ‘Angel Network’
