Case study: Building a coalition Part1: Group development After I read the case study. There are some conflicts about who will have more power in the development team. There are 3 organizations in the development team. One is the school district. One is from the Woodson Foundation and the other one is from The National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education which is called NCPIE. The school district representatives concern that they will not have power to control the operation of the new system. They thought that they should have more power than The Woodson Foundation and NCPIE. According from Duane Hardy he has been a principal in the school in Washington area for more than 15 years. He also thinks the schools should have the more power than other organization. NCPIE thought that the school district want just takes money from the Woodson Foundation. Mason Dupree , from the community organizer he concern that the school’s answer to its problems is to throw more money at them. He said, “The schools wanted our involvement then. Now all they want is our money. And I wouldn’t mind giving it to them if I thought it would be used responsibly, not spent on raises for people who haven’t shown they can get the job done.” In conclusion this group is in the storming stage now. It is in the second stage in the group development. This stage is one of intragroup conflict. There is conflict over who will control the development team. Since they understand this stage they will be a relatively clear hierarchy of leadership within the group. Part 2: Problem identification The primary problem is that the Woodson Foundation has is the conflict and agreement in the development team. The development team will contain of representative who are from the schools, the Woodson Foundation, and The National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education (NCPIE). The conflict is
