Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve is squeezed as it passes through the narrow carpal tunnel at the wrist (The Arthritis Society). Due to the lack of room in the carpal tunnel, any swelling around the wrist will cause compression upon the median nerve (BUPA), and result in some of the symptoms listed below. The repetition of a certain task, which involves heavy use of the wrist or hand, such as typing and playing video games (Altawell), can instigate the compression of the median nerve. What are the Symptoms? Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be observed in the hand and/or fingers.
Ferrel) There are different degrees of ankle sprains. The pain will be at the lateral part of the ankle and sometimes at the medial part of the ankle. (1. Heck) Which will cause irritation to plantar flexion. Ankle sprains are the most common injury to the lower foot.
1.1) Give examples of possible multiple conditions and/or disabilities that individuals may have. Rheumatoid Arthritis Rheumatoid Arthritis is a disease that causes damage to joints, organs, and bodily systems due to inflammation of joint tissues. While inflammation is usually a response by a person’s immune system to disease or infection, the immune system of a Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferer attacks the person’s healthy joints, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints, and a host of other symptoms. As the disease progresses, it causes difficulty in pursuing normal activities, even to the extent of interfering with walking, standing, getting dressed, personal grooming, and household chores. Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis is a crippling condition that often prevents people from working within five to ten years of diagnosis.

Often, you have to wait a period of time before the sound can be heard again, if you manipulate the joint. It takes time for the gas bubbles to reform in the joint. Dr. Michael L. Mawby of the Traverse City Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center also stated that when a joint is “cracked” an event called articular release occurs where the gases are thought to escape the membrane, causing the characteristic, easy to hear sound associated with knuckle cracking. The same workings lie behind the “cracking” associated with fingers, wrists, ankles, and necks. Despite joint cracking being normal and fairly common throughout the body, knuckle cracking in particular has long been blamed as a contributor to painful arthritis.
In OA, the wearing of the cartilage allows bones underneath to rub together, causing pain, swelling, and loss of motion of the joint. People with OA usually experience joint pain and stiffness, and the most commonly affected joints are those at the ends of the fingers and thumbs, neck,
Some development of arthritis of the fingers, hands, wrists, or knees is also common. The most common visible sign of SLE is the “butterfly” skin rash across the bridge of the nose. Other symptoms are chest pain, fatigue, hair loss, fever without a cause, mouth sores, sensitivity, and swollen lymph nodes. Lupus can also affect other body systems. Depending on what system is affected results in the symptoms associated with it.
A sprain is an injury that involves the tearing or stretching of a ligament or a joint capsule. Sprains happen when a joint is forced past its regular range of motion. I believe Jill sprained her ankle because there was severe ankle pain, swelling, bruising and Jill could not walk after the second incident. A strain is an injury that involves the tearing or stretching of a muscle and or tendon structure. An acute strain of the muscle or tendon structure happens at the connection where the muscle is becoming a tendon.
Some patients may experience tremors in just one hand while others experiences tremors in an entire hemisphere of their body. The muscle stiffness associated with Parkinson’s is typically a symptom that gets worse over time. It affects muscles all over your body and what might start out as a general feeling of stiffness and impaired ability to move comfortably could in later stages progress to trouble swallowing or using the bathroom. Slowed movement, trouble with balance and walking, and other symptoms such as difficulty talking, completing tasks, and depression are all struggles that those affected by PD are at risk for experiencing. It is also important to note that most of these symptoms appear subtlety and gradually worsen over time.
