The application process needs to be reviewed before the actual hiring takes place. This insures the applications are complete. Carl could have personally checked each application before signing off on the hiring of the trainees. Another option is to delegate someone already working for the company to make sure applications are complete before Carl even sees them. Transcripts should also be reviewed before a trainee is hired this should be done by the appropriate people for the company who understands transcripts, again before Carl ever receives the application for employment. Another option is for Carl to call in every application that is not complete with transcripts and have it finished. The drug screening needs to be complete because it is mandatory for the company. Carl needs to call the trainees in and have them submit to their drug screening. Once employees are selected to be hired they should be given a deadline to submit for a drug screening and a physical this should have been arranged by Carl. Now that the trainees are ready for employment with ABC Inc. the next step is to setup orientation. Check the scheduling log for an open slot for orientation reserve this time. Once the time is reserved for orientation, call the trainees and inform them of the time they need to be there. Since the room Carl had planned to use it already booked, Carl needs to find a new space for orientation. Carl can move the orientation to a later date or find somewhere else in the company for it to take place. With a set time for orientation now is the time to make sure all the materials are ready for orientation day. Get updated orientation manuals and policy books. Carl can get these updated materials through the company and be sure he has enough for this set of trainees’ and for all future
