How to improve decision-making at CanGo The decision making at CanGo needs some improvement. At CMN consulting, we believe in the Intuitive decision making model. Intuitive decision making models Some people consider these decisions to be unlikely coincidences, lucky guesses, or some kind of new-age hocus-pocus. Many universities are still only teaching rational decision making models and suggest that if these are not used, failure results. Some researchers are even studying the logic behind the intuitive decision making models!
Morals and beliefs have seemed to become more corrupt over the past decade. Murder and crime rates have skyrocketed and many are unsure of the reason for this. In the essay “My Neighbor’s Son,” the author, Pearl Buck, explains that if individuals are allotted more privileges later in life, they are more likely to abuse them because of the lack of responsibilities in youth and adolescence. In this essay, Pearl Buck uses insightful concepts, effective metaphors as well as real life scenarios that are easily relatable to portray his message of why there has been such an increase in the amoral actions of society’s youth and young adults. Respect is a quality that one does not simply acquire, but takes long periods of time to build up.
Accusations of doctors over diagnosing the condition and over prescribing the medications used to treat it have been circulating for years, but there is really no evidence to support the allegations. Researchers believe that the increased use of ADHD medications reflect better diagnosis and more effective treatment. Other reasons for the increase may be due to an elevated prescription rate for girls who are now more often recognized as having the condition and changes in the special education legislation that took place in the early 1990’s. Increased public awareness of ADHD as a handicapping disability provided the legal basis for diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in a school setting. These legal mandates increased the number of school based services provided to children and may have inadvertently led to the conclusion that it is now a disorder that it is over diagnosed.
Thesis Statement Literature Review Succinct description of disease/condition/population Children, who are abused and neglected often, have learned disabilities. They are often aggressive or withdrawn, have a hard time staying focused on tasks, and can sometimes appear (and sometimes are) mentally challenged because of the abuse they have experienced. Sexually abused children who carry the primary diagnosis of PTSD have a secondary diagnosis of ADD in 14% to 46% of documented cases. Concurrently, ADD diagnosis rates for the above-mentioned children are double those found in the general population. The adage that “history repeats itself” is valid with regard to society’s maltreatment and disregard for children.
Some people cringe of just the thought while others embrace it. As we explore these questions we will find that there are some advantages to the foster care system, but we will also find that there are some disadvantages. How is the effectiveness of Foster Care often inhibited? Foster care is often a traumatic time due to the separation of children from their parent. This can cause conflicts and resistance.
Entertainment has changed tremendously since the 1990's. A few of these changes are positive and beneficial, but I think too many of these changes are negative and harmful, especially to our children, the easily influenced, and those who are disconnected. It seems as if the most outrageous programs have taken over the airwaves. In the 1990's, it seems as if programs were more wholesome and family oriented. Our family enjoyed watching The Cosby Show, I love Lucy, and Three's Company.
The Over Diagnosis of AD/HD in School Age Children Samantha K. Hanson Georgian Court University Abstract For this paper I researched the ways that children and adolescents are diagnosed with AD/HD and if there if the reason for the current rise in diagnosis are actually due to an increase of children suffering from this disorder. What I found was that many researchers are saying that children are being wrongfully diagnosed and many may be suffering from underlying disorders. I also found out that the sex of the child as well as the sex of the psychologist or psychiatrist plays a very big role in the diagnosis. Using the DSM I-V I researched what exactly qualifies a child to have AD/HD and also how many other disorders have the same
Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future My generation will play many roles in America’s future. For we have the next doctors, lawyers, and maybe even the next president. A lot of people seem to look at my generation from a negative point of view because most crimes that are being committed are by teens, and the drop-out and pregnancy rates have gone up dramatically. Though most people of my generation try to instill a positive image, the negative image blocks that view because it out ways the positive. This generation has begun to show improvement in the past few years.
Each day more and more americans are being treated and diagnosed for several disorders including the mental disorder ADHD. Now it may seem as though doctors are helping our citizens but the reality is, is that many Americans are over medicated. "The figures show an estimated 6.4 million children ages 4 through 17 have received an ADHD diagnosis at some point in their lives..." a massive increase within this decade and alarms the experts significantly(Schwartz 1). The over medication of children and teens has become a nationwide epidemic. What Americans have created in our future leaders may be causing harm to our society without them even realizing it.
There are several things that we could blame the increase of bad behavior on. For example the significant increase of chemical imbalances in the brain causing a rise in mental deficiency. I think the main cause is the lack of assertive parenting in the many young parents today. Maybe, the young parents having babies are not ready to be parents. The parents of children in this generation and future generations to come need to quit taking short cuts and step up.
