As the time came to begin to think about my future career as a high school pupil, I vividly remember discussions amongst my friends as we were given our appointments to see the Careers Advice Officer. Many of my friends had no clue to what their chosen career would be but I knew I wanted to work with children, think of it as a ‘calling’ if you like. Initially I trained as a Nursery Nurse and worked in this role for a few years until I had children of my own. I believe in fate and believe that this is what led me to work at School. Teachers and students often talk about a particular teacher or event that inspired them to go on to teach, however I cannot really recall such an influence or event from my own childhood. itself has been my influence. The whole ethos of the school and the way staff day after day strive to do their up most for the pupils, providing them with opportunities to become happy, well nurtured successful individuals has inspired me. Despite the many challenges faced each day the whole team support each other, remain positive and look endlessly for alternative approaches and ideas to reach and stretch the pupils. As an adult I can look back now and see that I did not make the most of the learning opportunities I had or reached my full potential as a pupil, this has driven me to use this experience to want to make a difference to the pupils in my care. Having high expectations of pupils and providing them with the knowledge, skills, support and encouragement to do the very best they can and provide them with the foundations to reach their goals and share a love of learning. By working as a Teaching Assistant in the school for many years has increased my desire to teach. As my confidence, thirst for knowledge and ability increased, I embarked on my new learning journey.
