5. Leave out or masks important information, making the health claim sound better than it is? And then each criteria is judged on a scale of 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Bradley critiques an ad for Quaker’s Chewy Granola bars using the five criteria of the Leanwashing Index. Overall the average for all the criteria was a 4.6 showing this ad for Quarter’s Chewy Granola bars is leanwashing a great deal and therefore misleading the consumer.
Many obese people suffer from heart disease, diabetes and many other things. The sad part about this is that not only adults but children are overweight. McDonald is unhealthy food for kids, which has low nutrients and a lot of fat. This is a society issue to represent fast food. A vending machine for example is fast food which is bad for health.
As you know, many schools sell junk food at lunch. Students may enjoy a sweet treat during the school day. Others are thinking differently that the junk food should be kicked out and replaced with healthier foods. Even though a healthier lunch program would be expensive and take some time to get used to, schools should use it. Providing students unhealthy foods can lead to obesity, it can cause early unhealthy habits; and students should have enough time to eat these healthy foods at lunch.
Consuming fast food is not good for anyone involved. It causes extreme health concerns including a higher risk in disease and acquiring diabetes due to poor nutrition and sanitation in the products. Fast food is also responsible for a decline in the United States’ reputation and even harms the budgets for child public education. It is nearly impossible to defend the fast food industries and all of the horrible consequences involved with consuming fast food after reading the argument Schlosser presented in Fast Food Nation. Fast food consumption is continuing to completely destroy the nation’s economy and spread disease-causing bacteria all over the world.
One sausage and one hash brown for breakfast just doesn't cut it. All of these problems require an improvement in the quality of LSMSA food. Currently, the food here has a lot to be desired. Most of the food, and surprisingly even the fried food, taste extremely bland. LSMSA students are being repelled by the blandness.
We should all be “Hungry for Change.” American society today is generally disgustingly unhealthy. The movie Hungry for Change displays the causes of America’s unhealthy population and why so many people are sick and dying due to their invalid diets. The movie acknowledges the reasons for this appalling occurrence and how we can alter our diets to become closer to what our bodies are designed to consume. The movie is inspiring and extremely informative, it reveals the dangers we face because of the foods we eat and how we put our lives at risk by what we eat alone. The diets of today’s Americans exceed the amount of calories humans should consume, yet greatly lack in nutrition.
Manny Freebus is 5’8 and weighs 235 pounds; Manny Freebus is grossly fat, and the last sentence states “Manny Freebus eats too much. These are three different sentences made by different people based on what was seen, a description. The last sentence was an inference based on what was seen because we do not truly know that Manny eats too much just because he is over weight. But these are all just different interpretations and descriptions of language. (Postman, N & Powers, S, 2008) This just goes to show the different ways in which people interpret things thru language and how they at times make false accusations based on the eye.
The broken windows, terrible condition of the school position the readers to show pity for the children studying in the schools. The two students in the cartoons also appeal to the reader’s emotion as they wish the school had facilities. This shows that state schools are poorly resourced due to the lack of “shelter sheds” and other important resources to provide the children with a good study environment. The editor concludes by saying “We ought to grasp it”. By placing a strong inclusive sentence at the end creates an impact on the reader.
Namid reports being concerned with the unhealthy food choices at Kanti’s school and shows an interest in having her pack her own lunch. Namid also reports unhealthy eating habits as well. She describes over-eating due to stress or going without food for long periods of time at her place of work, because of her patient load and not receiving a lunch break, and thus snacking on whatever foods are available upon the unit. She is concerned regarding her current obesity and the associated negative impact upon her health. examination.
The American Obesity Epidemic The so called obesity epidemic in America is exemplified by greed, ignorance, and deception. Food producers stuff supermarket shelves with cheaply made, calorie dense and minimally nutritious food products. The FDA, in collaboration with food industry lobbying groups promotes unhealthy and unbalanced diets in the form of the ever changing and almost useless food pyramid. Finally, the American people are ignorant of what truly constitutes a healthy lifestyle. In the same way that smoking and drinking are conducive to bad health, so too is the overindulgence of over processed simple carbohydrates, trans-fats, and sedentary habits.
