Can Christians Be a Positive Influence in this time and age? Tonight’s topic is one that we are familiar with which stemmed from the theme of Sunday school month, “Can Christians be a positive influence in this time and age?” The world that we live in has evolved since the arrival and the departure of Christ. It is now even more focus on materialistic thing and less on the characteristic of Christ. Society is more focused on its outward appearances, fashion, what they are driving and the house they are living in. But as Christians we are here to make an impact on the society hence my answer to the question being asked. Yes without a shadow of a doubt, Christians can be a positive influence in this time and age and tonight my team and I will share with you how and why they can be a positive influence. In the question presented to us there are three key words that we need to look at, they are CHRISTIAN, POSITIVE AND INFLUENCE. There are a lot of definitions of the word Christian but tonight we will not defined it by words but by the people. Who is a Christian? According to Paul in Philippians chapter 3, “Christians are true covenant people of God who worship in the spirit of God, glory in Christ and put no confidence in the flesh”. According to the oxford dictionary positive is defined as being, approving, enthusiastic, hopeful, favorable or confident with no possibility of doubt. And Influence defined as, the capacity to have an effect on the character, development or behavior of someone, something or the effect itself. As Christian we are more than capable to be a positive influence in today’s society. We are the “salt that preserve, season, heal and the light that emits the life of Christ in this world.
