Hollering vs. Texting Hollering and texting are two types of communication for people to use to talk to one another. Texting is a more modern type of communication, and hollering is an older version type of communication, yet sometimes used today too. Texting and hollering are both an effective form of communication because of adequate transmission of tone and functionality. Hollering and texting both show tone, but they do it in different ways. Hollering shows tone by using different types of pitches and sounds with someone using their voice, unlike texting which uses words.
Handwriting a letter and sending e-mails have undergone a significant change following the advent of the Internet. A person can compose a letter on a computer and send it by e-mail as a way of communicating with others, then writing a letters on a paper is an old-fashioned way of conveying information. Writing a letter using a pen and paper is about to become extinct following the advent of the computer technology, where many people feels that the Internet is the fastest way of communicating with other people by sending messages. However, some still value a pen and paper more than they value computer and the Internet because of their own viewpoints. People can prefer writing letters on a paper regardless of whether they are computer literate or they are computer illiterate.

Texting has some advantages, yet talking can have just as many. Both of them each have an equal amount of disadvantages as well and can be a major distraction, and possibly make lives harder. Many people enjoy texting because it’s straight to the point and there are no run on conversations. Texting can be very fast, easy, quiet, and efficient.

In 1991 the Motorola MicroTac Lite was released for $1,000 (thinkquest.com). Since that time the price has come down dramatically but the dangers have grown exponentially. Cell phones also have many excellent advantages.

Cell phones are bridging communication gaps and allowing people to converse at any time instantly. However, using cell phones can be a health hazard and using them in certain situations illegal. Even with considering these concerns, text messaging has become exceptionally popular, especially with the younger generations, thus making the need for us to talk with one another almost obsolete. Talking on the phone has evolved over the years from speaking to an operator who will patch a call through to being able to dial a number on a touch screen and moments later a person is on the line.
But what if a piece of technology interferes or even reverses that early learning? While technology has its benefits, we see with cell phones, social media, and television many disturbing trends. Now that cell phones have started to become cheaper and easier to get, it seems like more and more children are getting cell phones. It used to seem as if it was a communication tool for adults, but as time went by we started to see a trend of cell phones being owned by younger and younger people. The bad thing about that is the fact that if teens and preteens start handling cell phones, which they already do, they begin to text more often.
Many schools are hoping this will help students adapt more easily to college life, and in turn will help lower drop-out rates. Cell phones also give faculty members a reliable and easy way to keep in touch with students. A student with a cell phone is much easier to reach than someone without one. Society’s desire for utilizing time and instant accessibility in their daily activities has caused quick progression of technology, resulting in more people using some form of it for communicating and interacting. Even though research has shown positive effects with growing use of technology such as increased social contact professionally and personally, the negative effects may outweigh the good when mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing are more important than the need for instant response and gratification. So many people seen in a cars, or walking have some technological device such as a cell phone, iPod, or mp3 player with them. According to the Pew Research Internet Project (January, 2014) the number of American adults that own a cell phone is 90%.

Cell phones also contain a lot of features that can be useful in the classroom. Things such as calculators, search engines, and photos/recordings can be easily utilized for educational purposes. Instead of having to use multiple different devices, you could your cell phone for all your schooling needs.
