What effects did the discovery of Gold have on California and the USA? The Gold Rush changed almost every aspect of California and the USA for better and for worse. The majority of people that came to California were brave souls willing to trek mostly uncharted territory, but now the Gold Rush attracted many people from other parts of the world. Towards the beginning the early settlers received the best luck in finding gold and unfortunately, those who came later had a much harder time finding free space to mine and pan along with any gold left to collect. This extreme rush of money not only inspired people from all around the world to come to California, but also invited many businesses.
But there are other industries that have thrived in California. Some of the big economic industries in California are: technology, entertainment, Agriculture and aerospace. All of these industries have brought tremendous wealth. California going forward probably has a great future ahead of it but it also has a lot of problems. The problems are that the politics of the state are rough right now in California because so many people expect so many different things from the state government.
It turns out that people not only careless, but also rude and label homeless as “undesirable” or even “trash”. “Untouchables” shows how homeless people survive while others are trying to get rid of them or evict from the streets. There are many thick and gruesome examples try to play with the guilt of people. In addition, they do not have any compassion because they do not understand what the homeless people are going through. "Attitudes towards the homeless have gone from indifference to pitying to hatred," says Kozol.
Some people fear and hate homeless people so much that even if they know the people, such as when their sibling becomes homeless, they apply those same hatreds and fears to the people who cared for them. They'd sooner believe that someone they knew and loved has become a bad or lazy person than believe that homelessness can happen to any good person! Homeless people are despised, labeled as lazy and worthless. I don't think this is because Americans are insensitive or unable to feel empathy. I have a few theories as to why homeless people are so despised and why we should not discriminate them.
Many of the Insurance Companies where charging high premiums and now that prices of homes have dropped are taking longer in lower the premiums yet they are also taking a while in developing a rapid system of checking home that are affected. I think the only incident I heard about where insurance adjusters and other government officials where out in the scene right away are when we had the San Diego Fires. Fraud is also a big issue from people, insurance agents and building contractors. 3. How can we have better fire departments and better coordination with the city officials and the public?
The Gold Rush started at Sutter's Mill, near Coloma. California Gold Rush was during 1848–49 in the Sierra Nevada, which attracted tens of thousands people, especially young men from Latin America, Europe, South Africa and Asia. No part of California would be the same after the gold rush. Throughout the gold rush, people moving to California from abroad have added to the size of the native population and have greatly impacted the state’s technology, agriculture, geographic and economic structure. The sudden diversity in California gave people both acceptable and unacceptable effects in terms of opportunity, development, racism and human right.
How are so many people, fellow human beings, sleeping on sidewalks, begging for spare change, and digging through garbage cans just to find food to eat? Many are battling mental illnesses that make it impossible for them to get or keep a job. For some, PTSD from childhood memories or even from military service haunts them. For others, mild retardation or other mental illnesses make employment impossible. Others are on the street because for them, it’s better than going back to an abusive spouse or parents.
ARGUMENTATION-PERSUAISON ESSAY “HOMELESS IN AMERICA” CHRIS RIECH SOUTH UNIVERSITY ONLINE “HOMELESS IN AMERICA” The reason people are homeless in America today is due to the lack of support from out government. Economic problems such as being laid off work or the rise in the cost of housing have lead people to live on the streets. They have no family to help them and they are left with no other choice. People with mental illnesses and addictions also become homeless quite often. A lack of affordable housing has contributed to homelessness.
The decade of the 70s was marked by severe land use policies in the name of: open space, saving farmland, protecting the environment, and historical preservation. This created an artificial scarcity of land which drove up the price of remaining land in the counties and created a shortage of supply houses for a high demand of people wanting to own. These conditions made a modest sized home became literally a million dollar home. This among other policies, such as zoning laws and minimum lot sizes caused housing prices to become unbearable, not only in California, but other cities nation-wide where similar regulations were enforced. While home prices rose thirteen percent nationwide in a single year, from 2004 to 2005, the range was from a four percent rise in Michigan to a thirty-five percent rise in Arizona.
In the early years of the gold rush, NSW and Victoria were the gold attracting places in Australia and attracted a lot of diggers. A lot of people came for gold for many different reasons such as, to make money and have a new life in Australia others came to find gold and return back to there countries and use the money from the gold for their farms and families. Most migrants came from the United Kingdom, less than 15,000 migrants came from European countries. The people that migrated to Australia didn’t all get along, they were all searching for the same thing and digging for gold some of them fought each other for being in the same area that they were digging in and others stole from each other for the gold. There were thousands of people digging for gold so it was very crowded and people were angry and frustrated and annoyed, some people ended up rich and others didn’t find anything.
