Cain and Abel Compare and Contrast Essay There have been many times that I have been jealous of my younger sisters, and I laid in bed and wishing I was an only child. I am sure a lot of older or even younger siblings have felt the same way at least once in their lives. There is story that is about a brother who became so jealous of his younger brother, that he kills him. These brothers are from the Biblical version and Armenian version of Cain and Abel. These narratives are similar in the fact that the older brother is jealous of the younger brother, so the older brother kills the younger brother but they are different in the ways of how the older brother knew how to kills his younger brother and how the older brother did it. In both accounts of the narratives of Cain and Abel the older brother, Cain, was very jealous of his younger brother, Abel. In the Biblical version the two brothers, Cain and Abel, offer an offering to their deity but the deity only accepts Abels’ offering and rejects Cains’ offering and this makes Cain jealous of Abel. In the Armenian version it states, “Adam and Eve loved Abel dearly. Cain was jealous of their partiality.” (83) Cain was jealous of Abel but he was jealous for different reasons in the narratives. In the biblical version Cain is jealous because the deity accepted Abel offering and not his own but in the Armenian version he is jealous because his parents favor his younger brother. Another similarity between the two narratives is that Cain kills Abel. The Biblical version goes on to say, “Now Cain talked with Abel his brother, and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against his brother and killed him.” (77). The Armenian says, “ Cain picked up a stone, hid it in his girdle, proposed to his brother a walk on the mountain, and there cut his throat with the pebble.” (83). Both narratives say
