Cages Are Cruel! When you think of the word ‘cage’ do you think of a fun, blissful environment, a place where you would want to live? I think not, so why do people find it just to put animals and pets in such conditions? Cages are enclosed and unfair. Animals are always being put in cages to restrain them. Put yourself in the animal’s shoes, would you like to be kept in a small cage unable to move? The practise of parents locking their children their room seems extreme, but how would it go down if it was a cage instead? I am sure that this would come with an outcry from rights activist and many more people. Why is it that this never happens to animals? Yes organisations like YAPS and RSPCA are trying to stop these things but these places themselves have cages in them. When people buy animals to raise as pets, it is normally a vision to do so in a way that they will have a happy and safe life. If you chose to put your animal in a cage, do you really think that the animal would obey, love and nurture you? There were no animals in the wilderness. So it is natural for animals not to want to live in one. Raising your animal in an unnatural way will have an un-natural outcome. There have been many stories of animals such as Lions who have just resented their trainers and mauled tourists simply because of their bad living conditions. This is not the outcome wanted, so why do we make it happen?! Many people argue that Animals need to be kept in cages to stop them from escaping. This should not be an excuse. If you keep an animal in an enclosure, it will be better for the animal. A cage is defined as, a structure of bars or wires in which birds or other animals are confined. I feel that if a bird is in an open enclosure then it is alright, or if a bird is kept in a cage to sleep and then let out during the day. But cages should not be used to confine animals and stop
