According to law enforcers white collar crimes are simply put as lying, cheating and stealing. White collar crimes can have many effects on individuals, companies and society as a whole. One single scam in white collar crimes can destroy a company; devastate families by wiping out their family savings. The article on business crimes I choose to do is on Dallas Texas Commissioner John Wiley Price who has been charged with federal bribery and tax evasion charges that spanned for about a decade. Officials say Price, a democrat, masterminded a criminal conspiracy that helped businesses win lucrative county contracts in exchange for bribes using his political influence and insider information for money. The indictment was filed on Wednesday and unsealed the following Friday morning containing charges brought against Price: conspiracy to commit bribery concerning a local government receiving federal benefits, deprivation of honest services by mail fraud and aiding and abetting, and conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and subscribing to a false and fraudulent U.S. individual tax return. There are court documents filed by federal prosecutor indicates investigators have unraveled decades of Price’s financial dealings. A part of the investigation law officials seized $230,000 from Price’s safe, he has received financial benefits totaling approximately $950,000 between 2001 and 2011 also accused of violating tax laws from 2002 through 2009 receiving $1.15 million in bribes and taxable income.
