Business Communication Trends Brittany Miller COM 285 June 7, 2011 Allison Kazerounian “Communication. It's the first thing we really learn in life. Funny thing is, once we grow up, learn our words and really start talking, the harder it becomes to know what to say. Or how to ask for what we really need.” (Thinkexist.com, 1999-2010) The simplest way of communication is first taught at birth, but as people start to grow up it becomes harder to find the right words to use in different situations. When working for a bank there are many forms of communication used every day, from phone calls to emails to faxes and in order to know which appropriate to use one must learn how to properly communicate. This may sound fairly simple but when communication is broken down there are many different avenues that one must explore to find the correct path for that particular audience. Business communication trends have become more complicated when bankers and other business’s try to figure out which trends to use based on customers and colleagues. Centric Bank uses many different forms of communication throughout the day between customers and employees. The main source of communication comes from email since everyone spends most of the day on the computer. When it comes to composing an email many different questions must be asked before any typing is to occur. First, who is the audience that the email is to? Defining the proper audience will choose what tone of voice to use and what type of grammatical ways to put in the email. Second a reason for the email must be found, so the email can have a reason behind why it is being sent to whom it may concern. For example, when composing an email to the head of a department, the style of writing must be formal and proper. If the email is to a well-known employee, then the tone could be a little more
