1.1 Effective communication is paramount within my job role as team leader. Groups and individuals whom I must communicate affectively to, include; my clients, my team, volunteers, visitors, families and also external agencies. Communication is key to a successful business and with affective communication skills; one can gain trust and confidence within the working environment. It also enables me to advise and to further my knowledge. 1.2 Within my own job role I support effective communication on a daily basis.

Communication can be done in many ways whether it is verbal or non-verbal. The benefits of knowing the purpose of communication are that; it means people are able to use their communication skills to help others, discuss and to solve problems we come across in day to day life. For example; At work if I do not know how to do a certain task I am given its important that I know I can communicate with one of my colleagues in order to get the problem solved and give me further understanding on how to further complete the given task. The purpose of communication is important as communication is the only way people can get across; problems, feelings, discomforts and ideas.
Unit 501. 1.2 In my Job role I communicate with many individuals including service users, support staff, care managers and outside services. I use a range of communication methods throughout the day this can be spoken, electronic, written, face to face and specialised I:e sign language. I recognise that good communication has to be personalised to each individual and I make sure each person has the correct method of communication to be able to feed back to me. When communicating with support staff I make sure that I remain part of the team and that each member of staff sees me on a regular basis and that they know how to contact me at all times, whether I am in the office or out in the field.

Verbal communication is something we do on a daily basis verbal communications provides more opportunity for getting and keeping interest and attention. It's easier to get feedback by observing facial expressions (and other nonverbal behaviour) and asking questions. It can also provide more opportunity for both the sender and the receiver to let off steam, cool down, and create a suitable climate for understanding. It can provide more flexibility, opportunity for emphasis, chance to listen, and opportunity to remove resistance and change attitudes.

It is crucial to have good communication for developing positive relationships with other people. It is a process by which two or more people exchange ideas, facts, feelings or impressions in ways that each gains a common understanding of the message.

Team Processes: Distributing the work evenly among group members based on individuals strengths and assisting others if needed because of scheduling issues,problems with assigned work and other special circumstances. Reporting back to the team at minimum by weekly to insure efficient progress among group members. Reviewing work done prior to each team meeting to make sure work is getting done efficiently and on time. Ground Rules: group so that group modifications can be made.
