Management of People, Finance and Resources. Managing People In the service industry people are the most important as they communicate with potential customers. Therefore emphasises how crucial it is for managers to ensure staff are performing well and understand their duties in the business. Recruitment The process of finding and hiring the best-qualified candidate for a job opening, in a timely and cost effective manner. The recruitment process includes analyzing the requirements of a job, attracting employees to that job, screening and selecting applicants, hiring, and integrating the new employee to the organization. Colin McKee decides who is needed for jobs by asking the people applying for them to fill out a detailed application form before he calls them for an interview. This helps narrow down who is right for the job so he doesn’t waste time interviewing un qualified candidates. After they go through the recruitment process Colin will already have an idea of the job he needs the candidates for. This is a fast way of recruiting new staff efficiently because he will already know if they are qualified and well suited for the job. Colin uses different methods of recruitment such as internal and external. Internal recruitment is what he aims to use as it takes the least time and works the best. An example would be if a new supervisor was needed in the restaurant. If Colin recruited someone new he would have to train them from the start however he can promote a waiter/waitress to a manager post if they deserve it as they already have basic training and know how the business works. Recruitment is very important at McKee’s because when people visit the store or make a phone call to McKee’s they will expect to speak to someone with experience and knows the products and services well.
