For any company to successfully implement a performance management system the company must have a clear vision of their mission and values. Once installed the reviewing, planning and development (Department of Education and Training, 2007) for these visions and values should be an ongoing process which will lead to success in any business. It will take commitment and initially, adjustment.
The visions and values coupled with a clear process which is well written and documented will give the process a strong foundation. It should outline a clear set of strategic goals, a clear description of day to day activities, accountability for delivering day to day strategic tasks, clarifying responsibilities, expectations of staff and their goals, regular feedback between management, training, rewards and recognition. All Managers should be coached of the Companies visions and values then be trained in the process of applying the Companies Implementation of Performance Management strategies. They should be trained in all areas including leadership skills.
The process should be implemented by continually reflecting, negotiating, developing, reviewing, planning and teaching. Also by being consistent, being objective and encouraging are the keys.
