As super-active, second son of a newly-hired librarian I plunged to a new American mission school in 1968. Adjusting in a small town, Nequmte, located about 160 miles south west of Addis Ababa, it was my dream going to first grade like my elder brother, Sahle. Can some good follow this disaster, as it did in New York? The nototrious Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was New York City's second deadliest disaster until the collapse of the World Trade Center in 2001. It was also the instigation for significant reforms in working conditions and building safety. According to Wikipedia, as a result of the fire that killed 146 garment workers, "[n]ew laws mandated better building access and egress, fireproofing requirements, the availability of fire extinguishers, the installation of alarm systems and automatic sprinklers, better eating and toilet facilities for workers, and limited the number of hours that women and children could work."

Most children were going to school and were on there way; that means most children died rather than adults. It also destroyed the town and that took about 2 years to repair. At the time no one knew what to do they were freaking out because of all these disasters that happened. Most people were distracted by all the fire and such that they didn’t move a one bit; they just stood there.

He recently transferred from Sussex and will now share his thoughts on his new school. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On October 16 of this year, I entered Surry County High School after being transferred from Sussex. Upon reaching the school, I felt a powerful sense of nostalgia overwhelm me. The outside of the school, perfectly dotted with trees surrounded by two other schools reminded me of home because in truth, not much is different.
