?If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me.? (1 3) Did it happen because of fate or did Macbeth make it happen? The witches tempted Macbeth to kill the King, however, it was his own ambition that led him to do that terrible thing. Macbeth, even though he was uneasy, he chose to kill King Duncan and ascend to the throne of Scotland. ?Nothing is but what is not.?
Macbeth Essay The play Macbeth revolves around the events that occur once Macbeth hears the witch’s predictions. These predictions were told to both Macbeth and his beloved cousin Banquo; this will play a major role in the future. Macbeth was told that he would be Thane of Cawdor as well as being Thane of Glamis and later on would be King, while Banquo was told that his children would be kings. Later on, when Banquo dies, Macbeth is told three new prophecies that would further influence him. These change Macbeth and start to make him do actions that would normally be out of the ordinary.
Argument Essay: Michael Vick I chose to write my argument for Michael Vick, whom I feel is seen as “bad” but should deserve a second chance. Michael Vick is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He played for the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons before jailed in 2007 for his role in illegal dog fighting. Former number one draft pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2001, Vick is an outstanding athlete. He signed one of the largest contracts $130 million plus a $37 million signing bonus for 10 years in sports history.
Although Armstrong persistently denied allegations of doping, even stating he was the most tested athlete in the world and suing accusers of libel, he finally admitted to doping in a television interview conducted by Oprah Winfrey in 2012. Armstrong was a child athlete, an Iron Kids Triathlon winner at the young age of 13 as well as national triathlon champion in 1989 and 1990. Winning the Tour de France seven consecutive times was no easy feat, he was a champion, a legend. Sponsors such as Nike, RadioShack, Anheuser-Busch and Oakley believed in him and made him wealthy. He faced many critics throughout his victory years, and continuously denied every allegation of cheating by doping.
The devil, or the evil spirits, take up many disguises, one of which is through Lady Macbeth. Our tragic hero does not realize that every murder will come back to haunt him. We begin to see the slippery slope Macbeth slides down as he promptly kills his best friend, Banquo, and attempts to murder Banquo’s only child, Fleance, without any outside influences. He was content killing his closest ally because he worries about the witches prophecy that “the seeds of Banquo’s kings, rather than so, come fate into the list, and champion me to the utterance…” (III.I.70-73). Even when you believe Macbeth cannot be any worse he slaughters Macduff’s entire family when he hears Macduff has fled to England; he said that he would “give to the edge o’the sword his wife, babes, and all unfortunate souls that trace him in his line”.
This prophecy backfires on him because when he encounters Macduff in a battle, he finds out that Macduff wasn’t born through natural birth but by a C-section. Macbeth finally realizes the inevitably of his fate and lose the battle and war. Nevertheless, superstition affects man because Macbeth was fully naïve to believe he could outwit the prophecies. He relied on the words of the witches, however, interpreted them incorrectly, ultimately degrading his name in
“All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter!” (1.3.52-53) Macbeth would have never thought of killing Duncan if the Witches had never given him the idea of him being King. The Witches plan an evil atmosphere every time they show up. They gave Macbeth the temptation of being something above everyone else, and gave him the ideas of betraying his surroundings. After Macbeth when to go see the Witches for them to tell him his future from the apparitions, it showed Macbeth’s downfall.
Towards the beginning of the tragic story King Duncan is passing the throne onto his son and this angers Macbeth and he is contemplating murder. “Let not light see my black and deep desires; / The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be” (1.4. 51-52) This tells us that Macbeth believes his eye will be blind to the murder. After this line, readers can foreshadow the evilness that lurks within Macbeth. He has no problem murdering the king.
When he killed Banquo he only committed homicide. I think he felt different feeling towards killing both of them because the king was his cousin and Banquo was his bestfriend, although he physically didn’t kill Banquo because he didn’t want to get his hands dirty and wanted to be free of suspicion, shows how much of a coward Macbeth is. I think the only reason Banquo’s murder was worse than King Duncan was that because he targeted Banquo and his Fleance for nothing, also he was his best friend therefore he had become totally ruthless and to him life is now
Ultimately her apparent success comes about as she challenges his manhood during the discussion of murdering Duncan, “When you durst do it, then you were a man” (1, VII, 49). Macbeth does not want to be portrayed as a coward, especially in the eyes of his beloved wife; he carries out the assassination and ascends the throne as a result. Onwards from this point in the play, the persona of Macbeth changes as he indulges further into murderous behaviour and tyranny leading to his defeat as King of Scotland. Therefore Lady Macbeth played a direct role in Macbeth’s rise to
