Phineas Gage’s accident had help so much by people being able to learn how the brain works and the functions of different parts of the brain. We were able to learn that different parts of the brain had control over different parts of functioning in the human body and the personality of the human body. (Willingham, 2007) The cerebrum holds brain cells that help in a person being able to learn. Learning is about learning new skills, in order for people to learn new skill that take stimuli. Stimuli’s are what transfers to the brain.
Further analysis into the cognitive functions and the brain was needed in order to understand what was going on. Before one understands how Gage’s accident support cognitive function, one must first have a clear understanding what cognition means (Hernandez, 2008). Cognition basically refers to brain functions that are high-leveled; also including the capability to retain information and learn. Being able to problem solve, focus, organize and to essentially be able to speak and accurately identify the environment that one is in (Hernandez, 2008). A common effect of frontal lobe damage can cause a remarkable change in one’s behavior socially.
Knowledge is in the “inclusive sense used in cognitive psychology, information in memory about the world, ranging from the everyday to the formal; often further defined as information about the world that is likely to be true and that one has justification for believing”. Computers are not as capable at forming internal representations of the world. Instead of gathering knowledge for themselves, computers depend on human beings to place knowledge directly into their memories. Computer memory and human memory work differently and there are similarities that help us to understand the way computers work. The brain and the computer brain use different kinds of memory for different tasks.
I will be approaching this from a Dualist point of view and I will be referring to Dualism and it’s supporting arguments, namely; the indivisibility argument and the conceivability argument which explain how, logically, alternatives to dualism are not feasible. These logical arguments offer a firm base to support Descartes’ theories but there is a problem with explaining the interaction between the mind and brain if they are not identical. However, the difficulty in understanding how an interaction can occur does not automatically lend itself to providing evidence that the mind and the body are identical. Descartes believes that the body is intrinsically the same as other material objects in the world. It is an extended thing: reg extensa and has physical properties: its size, its shape and the fact it takes up space out there in the world.
Language and cognitive psychology phenomenon is that the new levels of cognitive psychology are reached and understood so should the levels of the different languages. If language has not changed and developed then mankind would have not developed and became civilized species. Education and training programs that emphasize collaborative care and team building are essential. Also, organizational leaders need to highly value this training and the concept of interprofessional collaborations. This can partly be accomplished during the hiring process by stressing team and teamwork values to prospective hires (Taplin, Foster, & Shortell 2013). Continuing training and coaching as collaborations work can provide encouragement during the process.
