Bottom Locker Write-Up There were many human geography elements in the “Rumormill” scene. First of all, the rumors that were spreading about how Cameron was gay and that Evie wanted to ask him out displayed contagious diffusion. The rumors spread very rapidly and virtually all adjacent areas (Ellie, Cameron, Gina, Evie, and Erin) were affected by the rumors. Also, when Erin told Cameron she knew he was “gay” she was very accepting, which showed that they were probably in a CBD where the majority attitude is liberal. In “Touched by an Alien” there were examples of human geography regarding foreigners. The alien was captured by a cadet and a soldier and she refused to cooperate with them. She did not want to assimilate into the human culture. She started talking in her own type of language, wore strange clothes, and had painted her body. She had unique customs, due to relative isolation. The humans almost displayed “forced” assimilation, but when the commander realized she had special healing powers, she stopped her plans. The alien’s ways exemplified folk culture because the hearth is unknown, and she is probably from a homogeneous society. The humans know little about her culture because folk culture tends to diffuse slowly from its hearth. The alien knew nothing about technology and was very stunned to see an iPad, which may mean that she’s from an “LDC” (folk cultures are typically in LDC’s.) The cadet and soldier were very proud of themselves for capturing an alien since they are very rare which tells us that there is infrequent in and out migration (folk culture). In the scene, “Playwriting 101” there was a teacher, which is a job in the quaternary sector. The men in the scene were working men, and they were on top of a building, which we can assume is in an office park in a suburban area or in a CBD. However the suicidal man said he was not making enough
