October 3, 2011 Coach Powe Mid-Term (Pickle ball) Pickleball has the combined features of badminton, tennis and table tennis but also has its own unique features. This sport receives point scoring from badminton, the court structure from badminton and tennis, the net from badminton and tennis and the paddle from table tennis. The ball is plastic and contains several small holes. A game is played to 11 points. Only the server can score points – 1 point per serve.
A local DJ called Livin' Proof started his set to begin the night, to be followed by rising British artist Loyle Carner, and finally the main act Joey Bada$$ and Kirk Knight supported by legendary DJ Statik Selektah. Statik Selektah played a small set of a couple of songs before playing Joey's instrumentals to allow him to perform. The music was meant for different things. At some points, it was meant to be listened to attentively, but at others it was just to go crazy, in a practice called mosh-pitting or just ''moshing''. It is a style of dance where participants push or slam into each other.
There are five different zones and areas. These are the Service Zone, Substitution Zone, Front Zone, Warm-up Area, and Team Area. The height of the net is 7 feet and 4 inches high. The ball is typically 2 feet and 2 inches in circumference. The areas of play are known as the Playing Area, which is the playable court within the Boundary lines.
I’ve played both sports ever since I was about seven and have come to be an expert on the matter. Although some people tend to see the two sports as polar opposites, they are very similar as the equipment, the rules, and techniques are relatively the same with only a few minor differences. The equipment is similar. Both tennis and ping pong players use rackets to hit balls to the opponents court. The handle is for holding onto the racquet, and a frame with strings
He was a student and a performer at the Denishawn Dance Company that was founded by the modern dancers Ruth Dennis and Ted Shawn. Jack put together a modern dance for jazz, and to make it more motivational for technical jazz and artistic jazz dances. Also, while he was in training he got steps from modern dancing, and came up with the idea of a dance, called low to the ground. With this it gave jazz dance a sense of power and a sense of gravity. In which the two things that were a big part of jazz dance were isolation and syncopation, Jack was interested, and because of this it plays a big part in jazz dance today.
This year Lebron did improve on this shot (from 31.5% to 34.4% from 3 point range), but many of his shots were when he was open. Teams play defense to force Lebronto try to make jump shots, but even then he’ll make some damage. Still, he is only slightly above average at the
From the very start it was music to be danced. Many of the dance steps came from Spain. The performers skillfully drive the heels of their boots or shoes into the dance floor, pounding out swift, often syncopated rhythms which complement the different rhythm of the musical instruments. Each of the region variations has its traditional style of dance. Today in some dances it is sometimes performed with a glass of water on the head to show off the dancer’s incredible muscular control.
Slaves were permitted to dance, sing, and play drums on Sundays. Congo Square is where African cultures in music were blended with European cultures. This place is prominent in the history of jazz music because Congo Square is where slaves had some sort of freedom to express themselves musically which had great influence on the genre of jazz. Many great musicians emerged to show their individual talents in this particular style of music. A
Jazz became so popular during these times, because life in America back than was rough for a lot of people. Some jazz was sung about these problems and how people dealt with them and their opinions on life. Other types of jazz were played to bring excitement to people’s everyday lives and give them a time where they could dance and enjoy life. One of the first types of jazz that contributed a lot to the jazz we know today was ragtime. Ragtime was big during the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s and originated in the southern United States.
The members are Michael Gil (guitar and percussion), Manuel Clua (flute), Yuri Escobar (percussion), Gerardo Guerra Santana (bass), Emigdio Perez (electric guitar), Geordany Caraces (vocalist) and Eduardo Popy Ramos (percussion). The interesting part about their music is the fusion of genres, including elements of Brazilian music, jazz and classic music. What caught my attention the most was how the band make the audience mentally transport to Cuba and created the sensation that we were in a Cuban’ Theater. Some of the songs performed were Story playin (drum negrita), Climbing the Mountain, Vals, Eru aye, Caracteristicas de la danza (rumba), Caravan and Jaw harp. The highnesses of the instruments accompanied with the vocalist create a sensation of life and energy. The vocalist was scatting all the instruments that they used in each piece.
