Book Report Pride and Prejudice Mr Darcy: Nothing is good enough for me. Ms Elizabeth: I could never marry that proud man. They change their minds Days ago, I saw this paragraph online. It summarizes the book that I am going to talk about in a humorous way, so I make the extracts. Now let us get down to business now. With the beginning of: ‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want a wife’. Jane Austen started her story. There were five daughters in the Bennets family and marriage was the only career open to them. The whole story demonstrated 4 different kinds of marriage among the ladies altogether (one of the marriages is the Bennts’ neighbour’s).However it highlighted the process of love between Elizabeth and Darcy. After Darcy conquering his overwhelming pride and Elizabeth conquering her prejudice against Darcy, they reached a mature understanding and had a happy ending. Fishing reading the book, I find some rules of the life. Rule One: Everyone has vanity Clever as Elizabeth also could not escape this humanity weakness. At first, Darcy commented that she was just tolerable but not handsome enough to tempt him, which made Elizabeth kind of unhappy. As far as I am concerned, no one will feel comfortable when hearing such a comment, especially ladies. On the contrary, Wickham paid a compliment on her when they first met to satisfy her vanity. The vanity made her so blind that she believed what Wickham said without any suspicion. In our daily life, everyone may become ‘Elizabeth’ sometimes. We may indulge in compliment out of vanity, consequently neglect the facts. What we can do is always to have a clear mind to tell hypocritical words from genuine ones. Rule Two: A long task proves character of a man During social contact, people tend to judge a person from their appearance
