! The book The Pattern of God’s Truth is a series of lectures that were given at the Dallas Theological Seminary in 1952 and again in Denver Colorado. This book of lectures is about the integration between faith and learning. The author of this book challenges the fact that the word integration implies that these two things do not belong together. On the other hand, the author does a very good job in stating how faith and learning do go together. Although this book is small in size, the content of only four chapters has a great deal of information. The four main topics talked about is, Integration and the Truth, The Teacher and the Truth, The Subject and the Truth, and The Truth Beyond the Classroom. ! ! Starting off in chapter one, the author talks about how all pastors, teachers, missionaries, and evangelist should teach God’s truth. For centuries people have been asking, “What is truth?” As we see in the Bible, the Lord says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Right there is a clear statement of what truth is. Also in this chapter he explains that the integration of faith and learning is a difficult process that exists between the external and internal and it primarily deals with the union between the administration, subject matter and its staff. He uses an example of astronomy to make his point. To me it sounds like the author is conveying to the reader that all parts of something, not just individual parts, is what make something complete. God’s truth should be integrated throughout our entire educational curriculum, in that God’s truth brings everything together. I agree with the fact that God’s truth brings everything together. I also think it is easier for a pastor to integrate God’s truth into everyday life because a pastor’s primary focus is just teaching the Word of God.
