The changes were made from the movie since the director from the movie did not want to make the book and the movie to much similar to each other. The book Of Mice and Men written by John Steinback shows the struggle in the 1930’s. It tells how people are lonely and how they need a companion. The book and movie both show how reality was hard on lower class people. Of Mice and Men the book is better.
4. There is a different plot point between Ray and his father in “Field of Dreams”. Ray makes the left field in hopes of connecting with his father in the book. However, in the movie, Ray is afraid of “becoming” his father. The movie producers probably changed this because it adds drama to the movie without fully taking out the father element of the movie.
Journal 14-Famous Lincoln Civil War Speech & “Sivilizing Huck Finn” While I was reading Sutton’s article, I remembered Mrs. Phillips saying how that the regular’s English class just could not grasp that Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is in fact not racist. Apparently Sutton had not reached the sophomore honors English class level yet either, which is probably not the best, seeing he is a book critic and has the ability to edit, or in my terms ‘butcher’, books to his liking. If he had seen Twain’s purpose-to make the book as close to real life and society as possible to really emphasize the satire traits, Sutton might not have been so disgusted. It actually annoys me that he would change the whole book, and all of its
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” was highly controversial although not immediately after it was written. It was published in 1884 and caused little controversy until in 1955, when a televised version of the book used a white man to play Jim, Huck’s slave. They also eliminated any mention of slavery from the show, proving that the book was not well received. Among numerous other complaints, in 2009 a Washington high school teacher requested for the removal of the novel from their school curriculum, mainly because of the use of the word ‘nigger’. So many protests were received that an alternate book was released, called The Hipster Huckleberry Finn which replaced the word nigger with hipster.
Both honest mistakes that he didn’t even know he made. The ignorance shown towards Lennie in the novel was due to the time period and the people’s lack of knowledge. People in the story like “The boss” just thought that Lennie wasn’t smart because he just didn’t talk much unless it was to his best friend George. There was ignorance in Raymond because his brother thought that he could remove Ray from his schedules at his home and take him with him. The Ignorance was that Ray needed those schedules or he will have a fit.
The art of Literary Criticism What do you do when your dreams are cut short? Most people would give up all hope, and disregard the dream they once had, but others such as Tom Clancy find an alternate route to success. Clancy planned to join the military after college, but due to his poor eyesight he failed the ROTC exam, and was unable to join the program. Although Clancy was not accepted into ROTC, he continued researching various aspects of the military and decided to write a book including all the military information he learned about. This book was named The Hunt for the Red October, and immediately became a success, reaching number one on The New York Times Bestseller (Armstrong, 84).
Dear Mr. Gibson: Fahrenheit 451 is a well known book that most high school teachers have their students read. From my experience as a sophomore in Seoul American High, my fellow classmates and I had trouble reading the book. There were complaints they didn’t get it, the book was interesting then became boring, or they just weren’t into it. So, as of you being the director of this movie, I would like you to use some of opinions for Fahrenheit 451, as you may. The original version of Fahrenheit 451 was worse than I thought it would be.
People should be able to decide what they want and don’t want to read. Throughout the years, books like, “The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn” and “The Catcher in the Rye” have been ridiculed for the way they are written, and the solution is already there and movie ratings are a step to how books should be determined. Huck Finn is, to this day, treated with malevolence for its extensive use of the “N” word. There is certain indignation for the people trying to censor this book, but the books uses that word to show time period and emphasize character. The novel has much to
The students disappoint me in their change of behavior throughout the novel. For example, Leo asking her to be normal, I didn’t like that. He should have let her be who she wanted to be and if he didn’t like that then he shouldn’t have been with her in the first place. The student body as a whole in Mica High School is very bipolar when it comes to Stargirl. First, everybody liked her then, they hated her and then, they liked her again.
Also after watching it I did not had some deep feelings about any of the characters of the movie and I did not got anything learning from that movie. For some of people who loves movie just to relax they might love it. I was excepting from that movie that it will show maybe something about Indian person who will get education and make something different in his life, but it did not. Another thing that I still wonder is the name of the movie: Smoke Signals. My opinion is that in the begging of the film smoke showed the death and trouble for somebody.
