Cells are the building blocks of life. Tissue: Made from similar cells. Each organ has specific types of cells that make that particular organ and its parts. Organ: Similar types of tissue (example brain tissue, muscle tissue, bone tissue, heart tissue) makeup an organ. Organ System: Organs that work together to help an organism execute a specific function (breathing, thinking, eating, reading, writing, playing, learning, sleeping, moving, etc.)
Outline the structure of the main tissues of the body Below, I will produce an assignment on the main tissues of the body. There are four main tissues and I will be explaining them in detail below, using key words, which will show I understand the tissues and what the key words mean in this context. The four main tissues are: * Epithelial * Connective * Muscle * Nervous Epithelial Epithelia are the lining of the internal and external surfaces and cavities. This includes tubes or channels, which would be carrying secretions from the glands in our body. The epithelia can be made of several layers, which would be made of cells.
Tunic Mucosa – inner most layer that surrounds the lumen – Epithelium. This tunic is divided into three sub-layers: 1) A layer of epithelium lines the lumen. The type of epithelium is variable, depending on the function of the organ and the organ system. 2) A lamina propria is a loose layer of connective tissue. It supplies nutrients to the epithelium and contains cells that are part of the body's protective system.

Epithelial tissues has many functions including; protection, sensation, diffusion, secretion, absorption and excretion. If it is two or more cells thick such as the skin, it is known as stratified epithelium.
