This essay will explain and describe how each cell groups together to form a tissue and how the tissues form our body system. It will also describe how the body systems work and give detail and a clear understanding of these. Each cell within the human body cannot be seen by the naked eye but only under a microscope. Within a cell there are a number of parts and these have all be explained in detail in part 1.1. All cells contain some DNA which is the most common feature of a cell and go through the process of cell division, during cell division Mitosis happens and this is making new cells exactly the same. Within the human body there are millions of cells and these all group together to make body tissues. A tissue is made up of a large number of cells that work together in order to perform certain functions. A tissue is a certain size and shape and it gets this from the way that the cell comes together. The tissues then further form an organ and the organ will have a specific role within the body system giving the organ both function and purpose. There are four types of tissue in the body which are; epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue and also nervous tissue. Each type of tissue serves a specific purpose and has a different way of functioning. Each of these tissues is essential to the structure and function of the body’s organs and systems. Epithelial tissue can be divided into two groups depending on the number of layers of which it is composes. Epithelial tissue which is only one cell thick is known as simple epithelium. If it is two or more cells thick such as the skin, it is known as stratified epithelium. Connective tissue is a material made up of fibres forming a framework and support structure for body tissues and organs. Connective tissue surrounds many organs. Cartilage and bone are specialized forms of connective tissue.
