Body Language and Non Verbal Cues It is very important to understand the body language of others. If you use positive body language you will be able to communicate more effectively with the customers. Body language is relevant to management and leadership to all aspects of work and business where communications can be seen and physically observed among people. Body language is part of human evolution, with many other aspects of human behavior. “Body language is the unconscious and conscious transmission and interpretation of feelings, attitudes, and moods, through body posture, movements, physical state, position and relationship to other bodies, objects and surroundings, facial expression and eye movement, (and this transmission and interpretation can be different to the spoken words)”. Being able to read body language helps us greatly, knowing how people feel and what they mean and to understand better how people might perceive our own non verbal signals, and to understand ourselves better. Many body language signals indicate negative feelings such as boredom, disinterest, anxiousness, insecurity, ect. “What is non-verbal cue” Perceptual information communicated in a social exchange by signs accompanying the words used in speech. Such cues include body language, tone, inflexion, and other elements of voice, dress ect. Many of these actions which extend beyond words are called non-verbal cues. The six primary emotions are anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise. Your appearance and voice can send positive and negative non-verbal cues. There are many different ways that might interpret non-verbal cues. That is why it is very important to understand what message we are trying to send. Understand gestures.
