The argument against gun control has many facets that are either illogical or contain a plethora of logical fallacies. One of such fallacy is the use of the Second Amendment. It has been misconstrued over the years to change what its original meaning was. The text of the second amendment is as follows: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The various proponents of anti gun-control, gun enthusiast and NRA alike, tend to cite this amendment as a safety net to all of their arguments. But this, like in most cases, is not a flawless argument.
“The government's responsibility is to trust, encourage and rely upon We the People. It is not to infringe upon our God-given rights, especially not enforcement of unconstitutional and liberty-killing violations like "gun control" laws (Barnhart 1). With this being said, not all gun legislation is detrimental to our rights, but rather is for our protection from those who would seek to do us harm. “The underlying gun control bill Democrats wrote includes language intended to crack down on gun trafficking and straw purchases, as well as funding for school safety provisions. But it also includes even stiffer background checks” (Sherfinski 1).
If a person who holds a gun license threatens another individual physically or verbally should have their license provoked permanently, for the safety of the other individual. This solution can be very effective when it comes to saving a life. A gun is neither good nor bad; it often depends on how and why it is used. Whether you have a gun or not keep in mind that having one is a great responsibility, which requires much thought and effort on the part of the gun owner (Staff Writer). We need stricter laws on gun ownership, it seems that as long as an individual doesn’t have a criminal background they are allowed to bear arms.
Guns have always been apart of American History, from the Revolutionary War, up to our most recent war in Iraq. Citizens have used guns for protection, recreation, and hunting. However, people have always tried to find a way to take away people’s rights and keep this nation from bearing arms. Thus, many in this country worry that President Obama will really take away the right to bear arms. Therefore, gun control should not be enforced, because this country has a constitutional right to bear arms and gun control will not stop the violence in this great nation.
The media is spreading a lot of false persuasions for gun which makes this subject so diverse and so argumentum. Since the national rifle association is fighting so hard to keep the second amendment the way it was written makes people realize that gun control may not be the best solution for the decrease of violent crimes in America. The positive view point’s of gun controls misconception makes the national rifle association strive harder to protect the seconded amendment of the bill of rights and benefit
Chance Barry ENG 090 N1 Instructor Cooper July 12, 2012 Gun Control in America Gun control in America is a sensitive subject for many people. Some Americans have guns for their personal protection and disagree with the gun control laws while others support it. The upward rise in violent crimes with guns have left people wondering, should Americans be able to own guns or should they be banned? People own guns for several reasons, some have guns for protection while others have them for sport or pleasure. The ones who use the guns for protection feel that the gun control laws can take away a person’s right to protect themselves and loved ones.
The main topic is however, should other people besides the police be able to carry and own a gun. I can say that we would all agree that guns or any type of weapons are not wanted in "just anybody's hands". However, this is the very reason we need to be able to protect ourselves. There are people in this world that are not mentally stable, and if they want to have a gun, they will have a gun whether obtained legally or illegally. This knowledge alone should make people understand why everyone should be allowed, at least given the opportunity to own a gun.
I understand why he feels the need to take away the guns but it may not be the best option. There should be restrictions about who is able to own, buy, or operate a gun, but we also need guns to protect ourselves. Not everyone is trained how to safely use a gun. I do not believe having weapons is the real cause of what has been happening. So I think we need to address the real cause of why people act the way they do because it is people that kill people not the gun that kills
In America they need to create better safety gun controls. They should have a smart gun, which the gun only fires in the hands of its owner which have a companion watch on. If a person doesn’t have the companion watch those guns would not be allowed to fire. As gun control is such a controversial topic that leads to arguments of whether it should be legalized or not, the idea that we would not be able to defend ourselves, should the need arise, is a horrific nightmare and almost a terrible reality. Legalizing gun control will only further the pain caused to our country through the many instances that have occurred in the past and recently.
Gun control is the idea that the sale of guns should be regulated and controlled. Some people believe that no one should have a gun while others believe that everyone should own and know how to use a gun. Both sides have legitimate reasons for thinking the way they do. But which side of the argument is correct? Can we allow ourselves to become completely defenseless against someone trying to hurt or kill us?
