Without the drama on diamonds through these Medias the market would not be nearly as big. Songs such as “Bling Bling” by rap group B.G says “Diamonds worn by everybody that’s in my clique,” promotes purchase of diamonds by hip hop fans. There should be a push to eliminate the diamond. Hip Hop artist Jay z has a song ”Diamond is Forever”, Jay z is one of the biggest names in the music industry and the most common things in his lyrics are about money, fame, and materials such as diamonds. When a whole generation supports and almost obsesses over a artist it will promote the audience to do things that makes them more like their idol. Making diamonds a “hip hop” thing may be supporting the illegal diamond trade. Just like in songs there are many movies that make diamonds look extremly important. There is several movies about diamond heists such as Snatch, The Florentine, Flawless, Theif and A Fish Called Wanda. In all of these movies the audience is on the side of the robbers. The characters are often cool and slick which premotes the stealing of diamonds in the wrong way. The clothing industry such as the company Diamond Supply Co. Diamond Supply pushes towards branding its logo of a Diamond and in adds models wear Diamond jewlary. This is not the only brand that over premotes the Diamond. Many companies advertise that the white dress will go perfect with shiny Diamond earings. These big companies should not put such a big name on the diamond to prevent from the immoral act that go on in the industry. Magazine ads are some of the most powerful supporter of the market.
