The Blind Side: He’s Changing Mine The Blind Side: He’s Changing Mine John Lee Hancock is the director and writer of the Blind Side movie and the cinematographer is Alar Kivilo. This movie’s genre is inspirational drama; it is a rag to riches story set in Memphis, Tennessee and filmed in Georgia. (It can be in other categories of Genre). The movie is inspirational and warm. It is a true story about Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), an offensive lineman from the NFL and the Tuohy Family (played by Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins, and Jae Head) who took him in off the streets. The design team had to accentuate the difference between the upper class society and the lower poverty class in society. (Hancock, 2009). By analyzing the mise-en-scene, we will be able to see how effective the design teams are working together in the creating the lighting, creating the costume, creating a period of time, to tell the story, casting, and capturing the director’s view. The director John Lee Hancock is also the screenwriter. He had a very tough job in writing the script for The Blind Side movie. He had to be extra careful in his writing because it is based on the lives of real people, and the film will forever alter their lives and put a perception about them into the world. He tried to write an honest portrayal. (StoryLink, 2010). Hancock states online, “It really is two different stories, one of which is more of a question: Who is Michael Oher and why did the stars align to shine so brightly on this kid from the projects in Memphis? Then on the other side, it is a great story of a unique family, and the unconventional mother-son relationship at its center.
