According to ABC news, in 1966 Black Friday was given the name by the Philadelphia Police Department in an attempt to discourage consumers from shopping on the day. It wasn’t until later that retailers twisted the name into something positive to encourage consumers to go out and do their Christmas shopping. In fact, Black Friday has almost become a holiday itself. If you ever visit the Wal-Mart website, you would find that they have conveniently placed a countdown to the second for the arrival of Black Friday. So, Why Shouldn’t I Go Black Friday Shopping? * Very Long Lines * No Parking * Easy Target for Thieves * Items You Desire are No Longer Available * Stores Open on Thanksgiving * No Quality Time for Family Anymore “Why should I spend my day off shopping, when I can be home, on the couch, watching some TV?” -Marvin Cayabyab ------------------------------------------------- So What? If you don’t mind the long lines, the fact that there’s no parking, the feeling of being an easy target for thieves, the reality that you will not get the items you want, the guilt for leaving the Thanksgiving feast early to go shopping, or the time that you’re giving away to spend with your family for shopping, then I guess you’re the person that will kill someone for something at a cheap price. Wait, I won’t do that. I know that not everyone doesn’t leave their families on Thanksgiving to go shopping, or is willing to kill someone for something they want to purchase. It’s just that some people out there ARE willing to do that, and
