Autobiographical Narrative by Amanda Nunes In the year of my eighth grade summer I had went to Europe for three week through this one program. The program is called People to People. I was a part of their student ambassador program. I learned quite a bit of information from the different cultures I had encountered during my trip over seas. But, overall, I learned how some friends just last a lifetime. Before I could get on a plane a fly over to Europe, I had to go to a monthly meeting with my group. There were only five people in my group so it was pretty easy to make friends. The five of us, Alyssa, Trent, Kaitlyn, Brittany as well as myself, all really got along nicely. It made me comfortable to know that I would know at the very least four people when I traveled to a new place. The first flight was only twenty – thirty minutes tops. Because it was short, I didn’t really have any real problem with sitting next to a complete stranger. After we landed in the Newark International Airport we met up with the other groups we would be traveling with over the course of the next 20 days. There, we were able to see how the famous ‘Belgium chocolate’ was made. We also got a chance to see how lace was created. After seeing how things were done there, we took a horse drawn carriage through a historic town for a chance to just relax and enjoy the company of each other. After that nice break it was back the ball. We visited the Menin Gate memorial and the Flanders Field Memorial as well as the museum before traveling to The Netherlands. There, we went through Anne Frank’s hide away house. Seeing how people lived in such a cramped space like that was quite eerie.
