Bill Gates Henry Will “Bill” Gates was born October 28, 1955 to William H. Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell Gates. Early in his life Bill’s parents had plans for him to attend a career in law. Bill enrolled in Lakeside School, a preparatory school at age 13. Following the Mothers Club rummage sale to obtain a computer and computer time for the student’s, Bill took great interest in computer programming on the machine. He created his first computer programming, an implication of tic-tac-toe on the computer that let users play against the computer. Gates was so fascinated in how the computer programmed his software so perfectly “There was just something neat about the machine." After Bill sought time on more computers he was able to use minicomputers at Computer Center Corporation but was banned for the summer because of exploiting bugs in the operating system allowing free computer time. Bill then studied source codes at the Computer Center Corporation until 1970 when the company went out of business. Following the ban Bill along with three others Information Sciences Inc. hired students to write a payroll program. Gates was so intrigued with these machines and had possessed such great ability, "it was hard to tear myself away from a machine at which I could so unambiguously demonstrate success."
