In order to do this he sells some linen. Everything is going fine till one day the bike is stolen and that is when the ripple effect is put into action. He and his son Bruno accordingly go out in search for the bike and with no luck. Effects that are already taking place is the possibility that they become poor again, a strained relationship between Ricci and his wife, and the company that hired ricci will not have an employee for a while. The thing is, there will be further ripples which come from these initial effects.
FATHER/SON RELATIONSHIP Blacky’s relationship with his father is integral in moulding the adolescent that he is. Although the relationship between the two is clearly negative, it somewhat helps him to look past the fatherly influences, and to seek positive role models to assist him through the journey to maturity. Blacky’s self-esteem levels are low due to the negative relationship and he expects no support from his father. His relationship with his mother, the relationships he develops with other men assist Blacky in developing the courage to stand up for what he believes in. During the course of the novel of ‘Deadly Unna?’ the readers are exposed to the negativity between the father and his son.
The psychological aspect of this movie explains the high ratio of unemployment and how individuals are affected by it due to the struggle of finding work after the post war. This demonstrates to the audience why Ricci is so passionate and determined to find his bicycle. He understands that he is lucky to have found a job during this economy crisis caused by World War II so he can supply for his family. This advertising job can be a representation of a balance beam because the bicycle can either weigh him to one side, which is
The whole story is simply a showcase of these issues. Though the man finds a job, he needs a bike to work, yet as the story would have it, he had to sell his bike earlier on in order to have money to buy food and feed his family. So he is stuck with this problem until he decides to trade some bed sheets in order to retrieve his bike. Sadly his bike is soon stolen and sold to someone else. Throughout the film he is then forced to steal a bike, chase people down, and run rampant all over the city in search of his bike.
The viewers feel even more sorrow for the father Antonio because Bruno, an innocent child, is tagging along with him in search of his bicycle. In the end, after the father gets slapped, and then released, he and his son disappear into the crowd of people facing their back towards the camera as the viewers feel more pity, sympathy and a little bit of shame for them. The little aesthetic details that appear in the film help create a sense of realism and true emotion. After all, having your precious bicycle stolen can happen to anyone at anytime. Although the acting and the visual aesthetics in the film, Broken Blossoms seem over exaggerated and unrealistic, the filmmakers had made an attempt to make it realistic looking.
Fortunately, his wrongdoing was stopped before he got away. As seen in this flow of the story, Ricci was happy when he had a bicycle that allowed him to have his new job, and be close to his family, but all of that changed as soon as his bicycle was stolen by the thief. I believe that the bicycle played a role as the deciding factor of Ricci’s future. As the fortune teller whom he met said that if he won’t find the bicycle then, then he will never find his bicycle. Which, I interpreted, meant that if he can’t find his bicycle, it would alter his future.
From this example we can see how even the smallest minor events as two men meeting coincidently can have a huge impact on our lives, and could potentially destroy our lives as well as it destroyed Tess’. Another event that reflects this statement is of the encounter between Tess and her brothers-in-law. When Tess is desperate for money, advice and support she goes to her in-laws as a last resort for help. However, instead of meeting her parents in law she ends up meeting Angel’s brothers. “It was somewhat unfortunate that she had encountered the sons and not the father.” It was hard for Tess to take up the courage to go seek for help but instead of receiving the encouragement and help she wanted and needed desperately, her brothers in-law insult her harshly, not even
Due to his lack of friends he tries to create a bond with Sam and it makes it even more valuable due to Hally’s loneliness. He would always “try out a few ideas but sooner or later” he’d “end up in there with” Sam and Willie. He would always look for something to do and always wonder what he should do and think of some ideas but in the end he knew that they would always be there and he would never be let down by them. Hally feels a strong sense of humiliation and all of it because of his crippled and alcoholic father whom made him feel a constant let down in his life. When Hally was young his father “was dead drunk on the floor of the Central Hotel Bar” and Sam helped Hally bring him home.
When Gregor wakes up from his Metamorphosis, he acted as if nothing had happened. The first thing he thought of was about his family: how was he going to get to work because he missed the train. How he is going to work, and help support his family: “I’d have to try to with my boss; I’d be fired on the spot.” (4) He thought that his family would still love and support
As the movie progresses some of the characters do not change as much as the others do. One boy was pressured into going by their friends and when they find the ulterior motive behind this, they only seek a life of fame and glory after all or for the sake of becoming a hometown hero and to carry on a family name. One member of the group is on an emotional journey because of the confusion surrounding family issues and in particular the death of a sibling that causes him to think that he is confused regarding issues about his family. The journey undertaken by the group of boys has shown to viewers that the slightest journey in life can change a boy to a young man. The movie Stand By Me is seen to be a film where the children in the movie show the end of innocence and the beginning of adulthood.
