Christianity forms the world’s largest religion with over two billion believers classifying themselves with thirty-four thousand different denominations. Christianity is derived from Judaism as Jesus Christ; together with his twelve disciples were Jews. Christianity is based on Jesus Christ’s life, his death, and the subsequent resurrection. Christianity is a monotheistic faith; this signifies that the followers believe in one God, who is also the creator. The Christian religion is based on a book referred to as the Bible. Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God, and although written by human beings, it is generally considered that God inspired the writers. Jesus Christ is also a pivotal aspect of Christianity because he set the perfect example for Christians to follow (, 2015). It is through the word of God, the Bible, that we get to understand what God is like; the real character of God. Without his word, we would drastically fail to explain his attributes. Our interpretations would be incorrect and would just form an erroneous opinion, especially when we try to understand God. It is necessary for Christians or those who are learning the faith to read the Bible so as to understand God’s character. If we fall short, we will create, chase after and worship false gods; this is against God’s will (Exodus 20: 3-5, NIV) By reading the Bible, we will be able to know what is right in God’s eyes. By means of the Bible, God has been able to reveal himself to the believers. One of his qualities or attributes is light, this means that he is self-revealing in information of himself “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows,” (James 1:17, NIV).
