The ‘EKKA’ is described as country meets city and brings together the best of the Queensland community in a ten-day extravaganza. This creates a sense of unity and builds support for those parts of the community that are at times isolated. The economic benefits of such a large-scale event are widespread and cover the tourism industry, local business and the entertainment industry. It also creates media and publicity opportunities both indirect and direct for stakeholders and participants. The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) is an active industry associate for the EKKA.
Patricia Shelby Theater 110 March 2nd Elephant’s Graveyard I went and saw Elephant’s Graveyard on the 20th of February at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. The play was directed by George Bryant. I thought the play was setup very well. I loved the colors and the atmosphere the “stage” had. The stage set up was Unique but it complimented the play well due to the walking around and the crowd Interaction.
Rituals and festivals played a crucial role in traditional European life throughout the modern period. Rituals, such as charivari (“riding the stang”) allowed for the community to join together and have fun, teach lessons, and even make political statements. Festivals such as carnival, and that on midsummer night’s eve allowed for the community to relax, release their burdens, join together, learn from one another and, to the dismay of some, also served as a medium of spreading vices. Despite their disorderly nature, these ritualized activities actually served to reinforce traditional social values by building a sense of community, by imposing mechanisms of social control, and providing outlets for political discontent. Many rituals and festivals built community spirit and unity.
Response Paper: Cabaret Fundamentals of Acting David Waggoner Missouri State University Response Paper: Cabaret The Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance’s production of the musical Cabaret was extraordinarily entertaining. That was the consensus of those friends and family that accompanied me to Thursday, April 12th’s performance, and I wholly agree. On the whole, the level of professionalism, in terms of the music, performance and visual impact was stunning and the show itself makes me as excited to write about, as it was to watch and listen to. In responding to the acting performances, I’m going to afford myself the luxury of speaking also to the visual and aural life of the production and how the related production areas might (or might not) have advanced the direction of the production. Although those areas are admittedly not in focus within the context of the class, they are germane to this discussion as it relates to their renderings influencing the way in which the world of the play was made manifest and ultimately the impact those production areas had on the individual performances and how the audience received the characters.
20. Nonna’s secret is that Christina’s father is actually Marcus Sanford, at this point in the movie; all the secrets have been told. 21. “National Wog Day” at the end of the movie is more upbeat and different because Josie is happy and invites Jacob and her friends to attend with her; this shows that she has embraced her culture. When she puts on the music and starts dancing, it shows she is happy.
Colbie Caillat On Aug. 21, 2012 I had went to Colbie Collibet and Gavin Degraw concert at the antelope valley fairgrounds. It was my first time seeing these two artists and they did not disappoint me at all. I love going to shows where the co-headliners or main interact with not only the audience but with each other's performance. Colbie’s voice was sweet and sensual that it makes me want my hubby to be at the show with me! Her songs make me want to fall in love and to be loved all at the same time.
To laugh, sing and dance are some of our greatest and simplest pleasures. These things are essentially human; they lift our spirits and make us feel good. This is how I felt some twenty years ago when I stood with the rest of the audience and cheered Bran Nue Dae, the stage musical. It is the same feeling we hope to give the cinema audience. - Rachel Perkins The Cast Willie ROCKY McKENZIE Rosie JESSICA MAUBOY Uncle Tadpole ERNIE DINGO Annie MISSY HIGGINS Father Benedictus GEOFFREY RUSH Roxanne DEBORAH MAILMAN Slippery TOM BUDGE Roadhouse Betty MAGDA SZUBANSKI Theresa NINGALI LAWFORD-WOLF Pastor Flakkon STEPHEN BAAMBA ALBERT Lester DAN SULTAN The Filmmakers Director RACHEL PERKINS Producers ROBYN KERSHAW GRAEME ISAAC Screenplay Written by REG CRIBB RACHEL PERKINS JIMMY CHI Executive Producers CHRISTOPHER MAPP MATTHEW STREET DAVID WHEALY Director of Photography ANDREW LESNIE ACS ASC Editor
