My husband’s family usually meets at his grandmother’s house and we eat the food that she has prepared for us. This is her old family tradition which includes turkey, ham, dressing, vegetables, green bean casserole, and desserts; she says that she will always carry it on. My family always picks a dish that each of us would like to bring and we meet at my parents’ house to eat the food that we have brought. The menu varies from year to year but usually we have the basics ham, turkey, vegetables, and deserts. Our family has decided to help out with the food as it makes us feel more involved.

In Iran, preparations for the New Year’s celebration begin in the last month of winter. The Iranians prepare with spring cleaning in their houses, purchase new clothes to wear for the upcoming year and buy flowers; the most popular flowers being the hyacinth and the tulip. In scene seven of “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams, Jim O'Connor, an old high school friend of Laura's finds his way back into her life. Laura figures out that her brother Tom, is bringing him over to dinner and during that dinner Jim's treatment of Laura seems to be both moving and thought provoking. It felt like July came fast because the night we was scheduled to leave to get on the bus everybody was rushing tryna get things done at the last minutes. Though, we all manage to arrive at the bus station on time. It seems like we all was agitated to arrive in Florida, none of us went to sleep. When we touchdown in Florida and checked into the hotel to clean up, our first stop was Shoney's to eat breakfast.
The celebration took place at a banquet hall that was elaborately decorated like you would find at a wedding reception. I was told by my host however, that earlier in the morning of the same day the young girl( la Quinceanera) had gone to church with her parents, god parents and some family members for the religious aspect of the celebration where the celebrant was prayed for and officially declared a woman. Upon arrival, my first impression was that of utter amazement as I wondered why a fifteenth birthday party would call for such an elaborate celebration with a life band, a Dj, and a Mariachi. By the time guest were fully seated, the Dj took to the center of the hall to welcome guest on behalf of the la Quinceanera and her family. Shortly afterward, the la Quinceanera dressed in an elegant pink dress was escorted into the hall by a young man dressed in black suit, her parents, a group of fourteen young girls all dressed in uniform outfits and another group of fourteen young men all dressed in suits .
Thus when I think of Christmas time, what comes to my mind is a sense of togetherness, happiness, and laughter. Our family begins with getting a tree, decorating, baking cookies, opening our gifts we got from Santa Claus, and then finally have Christmas dinner. This marks the beginning of my family’s Christmas tradition. My family was not a big family, yet there were six of us: my mom and dad, my two sisters Danielle and Jennifer, my brother Christopher and me. We were living in Louisiana; it was my favorite out of all the other states we had lived in.
She sounded very happy when she told me that they had ‘really hit itoff' and that they ‘mesh so well together'. Dayanara told me they planned on seeing more ofeach other and she made numerous travel plans to see Trezpan in City, WI early that year. At this time it was clear thatthey cared for each other very much and were both happily committed to one another in a loving relationship.
