ENG-100 29 October, 2014 Independence Day The day I received my driver’s license will forever be one of my most treasured memories. This day was most memorable for me because it opened a new door of opportunities, and it allowed me to have more freedom and independence than ever before. It taught me the responsibility to become a safe driver, and proved to myself and others that I had what it took to earn the freedom, independence, and responsibility. May 14, 2013 was the day I would wake up with much intensity and butterflies. Knowing that I would now have the title of a licensed driver made me feel excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time. This meant being independent, having a whole new responsibility, and earning this new kind of freedom. I felt like I could do anything, and maybe even take on the world. I came to the realization that I now reached a point in my life where this was something very serious that I was in control of. Getting my driver’s license opened up new interests to me, such as; the type of car I wanted, improving my skills in driving, and the freedom I wanted and now had gotten. The next thing I remember I was most excited about was being able to pick up my friends. Now, I would be able to do so without my parents being there with me. This also meant I could drive myself to school, and save myself the embarrassment that would come with the restrictions of not having a driver’s license. I could finally ride around feeling the texture of the road, the smell of fresh air, and my hair blowing in the wind. I would not have to rely on rides to and from places. This allowed me the freedom I’ve been waiting for, proved I was capable of being able to obtain a driver’s license, and showed not only myself, but others that I am a responsible teenager and driver. Finally, on May 14, 2013 I drove away with a driver’s license,
