Basic Objectives of Advertising * To present to the audience a company’s brand image. Like with Benetton, it gives the audience the chance to see what a company is all about. * To bring about brand awareness and ensure the audience is aware of the company. The goal is to always be on the mind of the consumer and be their top choice. * To inform the audience about the products that the company has to provide. * To persuade the audience that the company itself and its products are better than their competitors. * To make the company and its products seem appealing to the audience in order to make the audience want to get the products. Advertising Objectives of Benetton * Through shock advertisement they wanted to stand out from their competition * Also using shock advertisement, it allowed Benetton’s audience to become aware of the Benetton brand as the images shown were intense and memorable * Benetton wanted their audience to be aware of the issues going on in the world * Through these advertisements Benetton allows its audience to know that it is conscience about the issues going on in the world and allow them to know they care and they are more than just a clothing manufacturer * Once Benetton returned to the conventional way of advertising, their objective was to ensure their audience that they were still aware of the issues in the world, but focus more on showing the audience that they are a clothes manufacturer and highlighting their products. 2. Discuss the pros and cons of the shock advertising campaign that Benetton used for many years. Pros * Leaves a lasting memory in the audience’s mind and makes it hard for them to forget
