The artwork 'The Scream' by Edward Munch is my chosen related text. The artist, Edvard Munch was born in December 12, 1863 in Loieten Nortway. In 1879 Munch enrolled in a technical college to study engineering, where he excelled in physics, chemistry, and math. He learned scaled and perspective drawing, but frequent illnesses broke up his studies. In 1881, Munch enrolled at the Royal School of Art and Design of Christiania, one of whose founders was his distant relative Jacob Munch.That year Munch demonstrated his quick absorption of his figure training at the Academy in his first portraits, including one of his father and his first self-portrait. In 1893 he painted "The Scream" which is one of the most famous artworks in the world.(See the attachment). The artwork "The Scream" by Edvard Munch depicts his separation, his disconnectedness from both himself and the society in which he lives.In particular, the painting reflects his own anxiety and his own feelings of mental instability. In effect he felt as if even Nature itself was screaming with him. His separation from others is demonstrated by his position alone in the foreground of the painting; other people are at the end of the bridge in the middle ground whilst in the background three boats can be seen. In essence, the persona is alone. The persona's face is contorted, drawn and horrified denoting his own inner madness. The colours complement this sense of disconnectedness; they are bright perhaps representing the aftermath of the volcano whch apparently erupted at that time and which could suggest a world out of sync with itself. The darker ridge-like lines suggest how fraught the persona is with the feelings which have overwhelmed
