Can we have beliefs or knowledge which are independent of our culture? We come to life with no knowledge but already part of a culture or the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. This culture is what shapes us and gives us new knowledge. Once certain amount of knowledge is obtained then knowledge comes independently through areas of knowledge and ways of knowing. Even though knowledge then becomes independently obtained, your culture always leaves you with some basic knowledge which you will carry around all your existence. It is certainly true that one has beliefs or knowledge of his independent culture. Families coming from a certain culture practice independent traditions, this is a belief obtained from culture because in another family it could be emotionally wrong to pursue this certain belief. All your life you could pray before going to sleep and you will teach your sons and daughters to pray before going to sleep, because your parents taught you so. This for example is a belief obtain by culture because you never ask why or never doubt that it is correct because it was one of the first beliefs you obtained and not independently. As well as we have certain beliefs that come independently from our culture; there comes a time where the knowledge you obtain no longer comes through your culture but independently.
