By being independent individuals we don’t have to wait on other peoples support or permission to do certain things. We don’t have to go out of our way to please somebody else because we do as we want. When we are independent our confidence meter starts to rise up, it gives us that extra boost of motivation we desire to achieve new things. I believe that we are the creators of our own life, that we all have the same power to start and finish new goals but only a few have the actual strength and correct mind set to do it. Equality 7-2521 says that “the guiding star is within me” and that it points to just one direction, and that direction is “me”.
In other words, Rex cares about his kids and puts in effort to come up with these stories, just to make them happy. When parents truly love their children, they do not intentionally abuse them in any way. Only once throughout the entire memoir, had Rex abused his child and when he did, Jeannette “…expected him to turn and walk away…” (220). Jeannette expects her dad to simply walk away, implying that he has never whipped her before. Of Course the only reason that he did it was to discipline Jeannette, so he had never once took out his anger on his kids, even during his drunk rages; he cared about them
As we can see, Equiano became free with the help of self-reliance which is indispensable for those who also want to become free not only physically but also mentally and spiritually. You need this skill because there are occasions in life where you are alone; no one stands behind you and makes the choice instead of you. Christianity is also an important factor in Equiano’s life. As Martin writes in the critical reading ‘God helps those who help themselves’ (Martin, 257). Belief is a clambering for everyone just like for Equiano.
It is the highest form of being true, as some people like to call "keeping it real." You can only get there by being true day in and day out. If you stray away from this, people will consider you to be "fake" or fraudulent. Trill also brings a sense of unity. You do not turn your back on those who help you and those who are your friends.
Ever since I have been on my own at 18, I have wanted a family and I play it safe for them. I have never had a desire to “do crazy things” or “be impulsive” because I like having some control over what happens to me. The advantages would be that I very well may remain safe from a lot of unknowns. I also feel that by thinking and planning before I start complicated tasks will allow me to do better at my task. Thinking before acting can help me make wise decisions.
In King Lear loyalty is measured primarily in the personal. In both novels King Lear by William Shakespeare and Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, the protagonists (King Lear and Morrie Schwartz) were able to achieve wisdom and knowledge despite all the misfortune and hardship they both experienced in their lifetime. You can say that King Lear and Morrie started both their stories as totally diverse people. Morrie in “Tuesdays with Morrie” would always accentuate the value of love, family and passion. As for King Lear, those attributes just happen to be part of life and didn’t not have much affection or be keen on family values.
They firmly said “None”. She was very proud to hear that her children had also picked up on their tradition to think for themselves , and hoped that they would carry it on with them from generation to generation. The author obviously believes that there is a problem with some of the people today. She doesn’t believe in the fact that following your culture, simply because it’s your culture, is the right thing to do. When
I always knew that God lets things happen for a reason. I was made fun of at one point because I openly practiced my religion. Those people didn't matter to me because I always knew where I stood in my life
That goes to show that even though people conform or try to conform you will always be more comfortable with the origins of your heritage and the way of life that you were raised in and not giving up until your death. Today's generations are exactly the opposite for the most part. People don't work as hard or appreciate what little things they have in life, relying on technology for just about everything. The significance of the essay's title depicts the Kiowa's legends and folktales. It describes the place of origin and the journey Scott's ancestry traveled.
Cultural Diversity Charity Tessitore ETH/125 July 19, 2015 Elizabeth Kazsuk Learning that discrimination and prejudice is still a very big issue, even in today’s time, makes me see that no matter what, I must always be nice to others. I realized how important it is to talk to my children about this subject as well. I never discussed it with them because I always thought that if they saw me being nice and not discriminating or being prejudice to others, they would follow suit. But I have realized that the outside world influences my children just as much, if not more than, home life. I have always been one to do research of my own, so I didn’t get to learn anything new about my cultural history.
