Being Leader In 2007, when I was at college I was 19 years old, I attended the first class of my new life after high school in Electrical Engineering Department which is power electronics. And then, a doctor divided us to many groups, and the students who were in my group suddenly chose me as a leader without even know me or ask me. Be that as it may, I didn’t want to be leader because some of them are bigger than me. Hence, I started to take a responsibility and initiative. My mentality have evolved over months because I started to be more conscious to avoid any mistakes that will effect my picture with my colleagues. According to Oxford dictionary, a leader is “The person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.” In my view, a leader is a person who is mature and wise; meanwhile, he has a competence and knowledge. There are many aspects that you can be leader on it. However, I will discuss how the leader would be at work and home. To be leader at work you should have the abilities and characteristics that make an employees follow and respect you such as competence, compassion, and courage. First, having Competence means that one knows what must be done. It is possessing the skills to do ones task properly. This quality is vital for a leader because they are the people that command others. Second, compassion is important for a leader to have because when the people see that the leader cares for them, they will be more trusting of the decisions that he makes. In addition, recognizing and taking the time to acknowledge them will make the people want to do their job properly and to the best of their ability. They will know that the leader is concerned with each person’s weaknesses and will take them into account when making decisions. True compassion from a leader will inevitably lead to trust from their followers. Lastly, Courage is described as
