Being Comfortable Think about being comfortable. For me the thought alone brings ease to my mind. To think of not worrying about what I wear, who I’m with, how I act, and basically being able to be content with whatever I do seems great, right? The definition of comfort states the physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint. Seems a little complex but yet there lies simplicity in the definition also, think about it. As a frequent pedestrian, I often question the character of another passerby, “How can they be comfortable in that?”. Not knowing how that person might feel in their own skin. The difference between the passerby and I is that she was comfortable in the tight, short dress and sky high heels, under the blazing sun, and I wasn’t. It takes a lot to come to terms with one’s body image. Body image is a mental representation we create of what we think we look like. Henceforth being content with oneself including body image is quite a stretch. There are certain steps in becoming physically content (comfortable) with oneself. Step one is acceptance, learning that everyone is built differently and not everybody is going to look the same. Step two is knowing where the level of comfort ability lies physically, whether it be any type of clothing style. As long as someone is content and happy with their body image, that’s all that matters. To achieve physical comfort one must be comfortable mentally. In a class room setting, usually when a teacher ask a question, their looking for the right answer. When student answers with a fragment of that answer the student gets told that the answer is wrong, and not to answer unless it’s correct. Once this happens the student gets picked on for basically trying. This is a perfect example of how peer pressure
