Your Educational Home since 1857 A History in Education: St. Thomas School, thought to have been founded in the 1900’s, was actually started in 1857, which comprised of 74 learners, and now in 2014 has grown to ± 1350 learners. The school initially founded by the Anglican Church (formerly known as the Church of England), who also held their Church Services in the school classrooms (formerly the home of “Oom” John Kaptein with 9 classrooms) in town, and was later as a result of the government of the time moved to Wesbank in 1957, with 14 classrooms, an office and toilets.
