Behaviorism a theoretical orientation based on the premise that scientific psychology should study only observable behavior. I work at a Mental Health resident home so it got me interested in the Psychology field. When I started I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t know what would set them off. When I arrive to work I never know what their behavior will be like it could be extremely happy to sad, annoyed or angry it just depends on their day they’re having. Patients diagnoses might be Schizoaffective disorder, Bipolar Type, cognitive disorder NOS, Schizophrenia, paranoid type, Borderline Intellectual Functioning, Socialization issues and OCD behaviors. For some of the residents it might take a couple of weeks or days before they can even trust you or even that same day. I’ve seen many staff members come and go because it was just too much for them to handle. Some might not like you because you remind them from someone in their past that abused them or just punished them for no apparent reason. Most of them enjoy going out for their daily outings with their peers and some just like to stay in their room without leaving their home. Some residents think there is nothing wrong with them and accused them of keeping them from their freedom. At times the residents believe that we are out to harm them or trying that we are trying to take their souls but most of the time they seem so normal without any psychological history . Some patients just need some encouragement about their daily chores and what is good for their health. It sometimes is hard to see that some patients refuse to see an family
