AwardBios AMIBIOS is a BIOS manufacturer that many motherboard manufacturers integrate into their systems. Note that AMIBIOS beep codes are very short – So listen carefully! For exact codes you need to reference your computer manual for motherboard information and troubleshooting. However, most of the time this type of BIOS will generally display the following beep codes: AwardBIOS Beep Code Troubleshooting Guide: 1 Short Beep A single beep means that everything has been checked and running successfully. This is one beep that you want to hear and will beep every time you boot your computer. 1 Long Beep, 2 Short Beeps One long beep with two short beeps following means an error with the video card has occurred. Solution: Re-seed or replace the video card. 1 Long Beep, 3 Short Beeps One long beep with three short beeps followed means a video card is not installed or memory on the video card is bad. Solution: Reseat or replace the video card 1 High Pitched Beep, 1 Low Pitched Beep (Repeats) A repeating high pitched / low pitched beep pattern means a CPU error has occurred. The CPU could be overheating or is bad. Solution: Turn off the computer and wait a while for the system to cool off. Turn it back on and see if you receive the same error again. Are your computer fans working properly? Check the internals of your computer to make sure all of the fans are spinning in good order and remove any clogged dust. Otherwise replacing the CPU should resolve this error. 1 High Pitched Beep (Repeating) A single, repeating, high pitched beep means the CPU is overheating. Solution: Turn off your computer ASAP! Your CPU is running hot and could lead to permanent damage while in use.
