Becoming an Officer For Caleb to achieve his goal of becoming an officer in the United States Army, he must have a Bachelor’s Degree and must exhibit exceptional leadership qualities. This is a dream has been pursued long since his childhood. Of course this career will come with many challenges as well. He will have to handle traveling, spending long times away from his family, and will be force to make hard decisions in stressful situations. But like all jobs, it has perks that come with it. All these things he is will to do to become an officer in the United States Army. Of course the greatest military known to man has high standards for its leaders. There are many ways to become an officer in the army; however, Caleb has chosen to finish his education at college and receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina. While attending college, he will join the Army National Guard to jump start his career in the military. This will give him the experience of what to expect from the army and will also allow him to start career in the army. Joining the Guard will also help him pay for college. The National Guard has a program that will fully cover the cost; as well as, pay him to attend college. However, becoming an officer takes more than just an education. You must have excellent leadership skills. Caleb has already taken steps to improve his leadership traits by attending a program called Civil Air Patrol. Civil Air Patrol is a program dedicated to improving and training cadets to become better leaders. The program teaches leadership through example and hard work. It also offers. Caleb has been able to apply what he learned to everyday life. Through this program, Caleb has achieved the rank of Cadet 2nd Lieutenant. This rank is recognized by every branch in the United States Military and will allow him to skip three pay grades in the
